<image:caption>AFSC offers memory screening both on “as requested” individual basis as well as wide regional offerings conducted during the National Memory Screening month of November. The screen adopted for the agency is the Montreal Cognitive Assessment due to its reliability and validity, and only clinicians who have received MoCA administration certification are eligible to administer the screening. Screens serve to help ascertain normalcy in age-related cognitive decline versus the need for further clinical assessment.</image:caption>

<image:caption>As the saying goes, you don’t know what you don’t know, and dementia diseases happen to us without manuals or blueprints. Whether you are living with AD/dementia or caring for someone who is, education is key to preventing crises and living well. The AFSC provides a full roster of educational opportunities including The Savvy Caregiver, a 12-hour training specifically for family caregivers that is offered on a rolling basis throughout the year. We also offer conferences, professional trainings, and seminars and webinars ranging in subjects from male caregiving to cognitive health to hospice care.</image:caption>

The Alzheimer’s Volunteer Corps offers people living with memory loss the opportunity to give back to their communities by volunteering for the AFSC. Projects have included painting birdhouses to be installed outside the windows of long-term care residents and Cards for Hope, creating greeting cards for people and professionals in long-term care facilities during the COVID-19 quarantine.</image:caption>
